BBC2 will feature the Irish basking shark project this thrusday the 18th of August at 8pm. The film crew visited Malin head as part of the 'Monty Halls , Great Irish Escape' series. For this the third series of Mr Halls reat escapes, 'Monty' spent 6 months as a marine biology assistant on the west coast of Ireland with Dr Simon Berrow. His main activities through out the summer involved the study of whales, dophins and basking sharks. Monty traveled to Malin head on the Inishowen penincula in June to learn how to tag and slime sample basking sharks with Emmett Johnston a locally based shark researcher. The program is sure to make good entertainment as Monty learns the ropes and has some close encounters with the largest shark in the Atlantic Ocean.
