The Monster Munch project has delivered a five month community awareness programme using basking sharks as a medium to inform Inishowen’s youth on marine biology, local marine resources and the marine industry. This Thursday the 7ThJune see’s the culmination of the project with a presentation evening in the Greencastle Maritime Museum from 7-9pm.
The highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the life size basking shark which was built by the five community schools of Buncrana, Malin head, Glengad, Culdaff and Greencastle. The shark which is for permanent display in the museum will be complemented by a series of poster presentations completed by the individual community schools.
Five locally connected professionals from the marine industry will speak on their careers and how the marine can be utilised as a positive resource for Inishowen.
Two students from each community school will also make presentations on what they have learnt from their experiences throughout the project.
A buffet with tea and coffee will be served after the presentations.
All interested parties and individuals are invited.
